About me –

Hello and welcome!

Counselling is a natural extension of who I am. They say it is a Calling and not a career. And it is true that I am drawn by my natural curiosity and deep compassion to support others through challenging times. As well as therapy, I volunteer at the Royal Hobart Hospital as a palliative care support person. Working with people with a life-limiting illness is many things, but the rawness creates a space for deep connection.

I come to counselling as an adult after my own bumpy journey. In my life, I have had significant life transitions such as marriage, divorce, and a mid-life coming out. Plus I have three young adult children who have taught me through their own struggles and triumphs. Throughout, I also faced numerous health challenges. Recently, I have comes to accept my neurodiversity. It’s been a real melting pot!

I have always loved learning. A love of science saw me study Science at Monash; a love of good health a Masters in Human Nutrition and Dietetics; and (much later) a passion for plants encouraged me to study Horticulture.

Dance, art, hiking and travel are some of my other passions.

Yet education is only part of what makes a good therapist. A life well-lived is another part. Having made choices, mistakes and experienced different ways of living helps me to understand my clients. Creating a warm and accepting space is the first step in building a strong relationship between therapist and client.
